Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve pump performance by a method wherein an uneven water flow generated in a suction water passage in the vicinity of the suction port of a vertical shaft pump is brought into a state approximately equal to an uniform state.
CONSTITUTION: The suction port 7 of a vertical shaft pump is communicated with a spot in the vicinity of the terminal end part of a suction water passage 1. A suction water passage 1 is formed in a shape symmetrical about a vertical virtual plane A-A passing through the center of the suction port 7. A plate-form partition body 2 is arranged in the suction water passage 1 such that it passes the central part of the suction water passage 1.
