Abstract:
To provide, as a countermeasure against the growing number of accidents due to incorrect depression of an accelerator pedal and a brake pedal in a vehicle, a device capable of suppressing sudden acceleration without making any erroneous actuation in the case by any chance a driver depresses incorrectly.SOLUTION: A sudden acceleration suppression device is installed between an accelerator pedal and ECU in a vehicle in which the ECU controls an engine output with a signal according to a depressed amount output from the accelerator pedal. An accelerator signal that is output from the accelerator pedal is output to the ECU as a pseudo-accelerator signal suppressed according to a travel speed of the vehicle, or in addition to performing the output as a suppressed pseudo-accelerator signal to the ECU, the suppression control is mitigated according to elapsed time, so as to enable suppression of sudden acceleration in the case that the accelerator pedal is erroneously depressed with intent to stop the vehicle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
