To provide a sudden closure restraining device for an opening-closing device capable of restraining sudden closing operation of an opening-closing body, in response to various abnormalities on the opening-closing body opening directional side.
This sudden closure restraining device has a flexible linear member 30 arranged in a bridged manner between a closing directional side part of the opening-closing body 10 and an immovable part on the opening-closing body opening directional side, a winder 40 taking up and paying out a linear member 30 in response to opening-closing operation of the opening-closing body 10, and an engaging device 50 pulling a movable member 52 by the linear member 30. Rotation of the winder 40 is stopped in response to a sudden closure of the opening-closing body 10, and the linear member 30 is separated by an increase in tension by the stopping, and the opening-closing body 10 is engaged with the immovable part by rocking of the movable member 52 of the separated linear member 30.
