To provide a suede-tone artificial leather having excellent light fastness, color developing property and tear strength and further exhibiting moisture absorption, moisture permeability, dense touch and solid feeling.
The suede-tone artificial leather is produced by impregnating a polymer elastomer in an entangled fiber material composed of a short-fiber nonwoven fabric and a woven or knit fabric wherein (1) the short fiber has an average fiber length of 18-110 mm and a single fiber fineness of ≤0.4 dtex, (2) the fiber constituting the woven or knit fabric has random microcrimps between the single fibers and has a single fiber fineness of ≤1.6 dtex, (3) the nonwoven fabric made of short fibers is intertwined with the woven or knit fabric and the surface exposure ratio of the single fiber constituting the woven or knit fabric is ≤20% on a surface of the short fiber nonwoven fabric opposite to the surface contacting with the woven or knit fabric, (4) the short-fiber nonwoven fabric and the woven or knit fabric are composed of ultrafine fibers left after the water extraction and the residual ratio of the water-soluble polymer component in the ultrafine fiber is ≤7%, and (5) the leather has a moisture absorption of ≥0.6%.
