Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sugar chain polymer composition which has s biodegradability that exerts no undesirable effect on the global environment, can be used in other forms than regenerated paper as a reutilization of used paper, can be used as a replacement of conventional plastics, and is improved in mechanical strength including flexural strength and tensile strength. SOLUTION: This sugar chain polymer composition comprises a sugar chain polymer compound represented by formula (1) (wherein R is a linear alkylene group, G is glucose or a derivative thereof, and (n) is an integer of 2-5000) and a polyhydroxyalkanoate copolymer containing at least two hydroxyalkanoic acid units produced by microorganisms and represented by formula (2) (wherein R1 is CH3, C3H7, C5H11, C7H15, C9H19, or C11H23).
