Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bowel preparation procedure for capsule endoscopy for the examination of gastrointestinal (GI) tract.SOLUTION: The invention relates to an oral sulfate solution for preparing a patient for a capsule endoscopic examination, the oral sulfate solution being a transit rate enhancer and containing 0.0096-0.50 g/ml of sulphate in the form of inorganic sulfate, wherein the sulphate includes sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate, and magnesium sulfate, the oral sulfate solution not containing phosphate, and being used for administering to a patient in an amount effective to remove the contents from the patient's gastrointestinal tract by a cathartic and to irrigate the gastrointestinal tract. The amount of oral sulfate solution that is administered is 15-1000 ml. The oral sulfate solution is administered two or more times before, at the same time of, and after the capsule endoscopic examination. Preferably, 0.0096-0.50 g/ml of sulphate is comprised in the form of inorganic sulfate.SELECTED DRAWING: None
