Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain new sulfonamide peroxycarboxylic acids capable of removing stains without damaging cloth, etc., excellent in shelf stability and useful as bleaching agents for domestic laundering, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The sulfonamide peroxycarboxylic acids are compds. of formulae I and (each of A and B is an org. component compatible with peroxycarboxy; and R is H or 1-3C alkyl), e.g. (N-propionperoxy acid) octylsulfonamide. The compds. of the formulae I and II are obtd., e.g. by reacting sulfonamides of formulae III and IV (each of R1 and R2 is H or a 1-20C monovalent org. group) with hydrogen peroxide in pyrosulfuric acid or methanesulfonic acid as an acidic medium.
