Abstract:

To provide a sulfur compound adsorbent capable of efficiently adsorbing/removing a sulfur compound contained in a gas even at a low concentration and having a high adsorption capacity.

A method of manufacturing a sulfur compound adsorbent comprising a product obtained by heating a sulfuric acid containing crystalline composite hydrous oxide of zinc (II) or zinc (II) and copper (II) or cobalt (II) comprises the step of adding zinc (II) oxide to a water solution of at least one metal selected from the group of zinc (II), copper (II) and cobalt (II) to cause a reaction under the presence of sulfuric acid ions to precipitate the sulfuric acid ion containing crystalline metal hydrous oxide represented by formula of M++(OH)y(SO4--)(2-y)/2*mH2O, wherein M++represents Zn++or a mixed metal ion of Zn++and Co++or Cu++, y satisfies 0≤y≤0.7, and m satisfies 0COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
