PURPOSE: To prevent leakage of exhaust gas, by applying a lining plate of lead over the inner surface of a casing at the portions thereof where the casing is held in contact with exhaust gas, fitting a lead sleeve in each of through-holes formed in the wall of the casing, and welding the lead sleeve to the lining plates of lead.
CONSTITUTION: At one supporting sections a, heat transfer pipes 3 are supported by bulging of a casing 1 or by other method so that leakage of gas may not occur between the heat transfer pipes 3 and through-holes for supporting the same. At the other supporting sections b, on the other hand, an O-ring 5 made of an elastic material having heat-resisting and sulfuric acid resisting properties, so that the heat transfer pipes 3 can be expanded and contracted freely when it is subjected to thermal expansion. The casing 1 and its flange portions made of steel are protected from being corroded by sulfuric acid by applying lining plates 6 of lead at the portions thereof where the casing 1 and flange portions are held in contact with exhaust gas. Further, a lead sleeve 7 is fitted into each of the through-holes through which the lead coated heat transfer pipes are extended, and it is welded to the lead lining plate 6 for preventing leakage of exhaust gas in a reliable manner.
