Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a composition which does not decrease viscosity and is suitable for shampoo, by neutralizing sulphate alkyl ether half ester in neutralizer solution in the presence of a polyhydroxy oligomer.
CONSTITUTION: Sulphate alkyl ether half ester represented by the formula RO (CH2CH2O)nSO3H (R is C10-C20 alkyl, and n is an arbitrary number, preferably up to 10, especially 1-7) is neutralized in the presence of polyhydroxy oligomer of 2-15%, preferably 5-10% of its weight in aqueous solution such as potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide, or mono-, di-, or tri- ethanolamine. As polyhydroxy oligomer, glycerine tetramer, pentamer, hexamer, heptamer, cyclodextrin, or alkylpoly glycoside is used.
