Abstract:
To enable an initial cooling of a superconducting cable to be carried out even at a place to which liquid nitrogen is difficult to be transported, by eliminating emission of nitrogen gas into atmosphere at an initial cooling stage for the superconducting cable.SOLUTION: A superconducting cable cooling device in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a reservoir tank storing liquefied coolant therein; a refrigerator capable of cooling the refrigerant to a sub-cool temperature; a refrigerant feeding line feeding the refrigerant from the reservoir tank to the superconducting cable; a first refrigerant returning line returning at least a part of the refrigerant cooled down to the sub-cool temperature by the freezer to the reservoir tank; a second refrigerant returning line returning refrigerant after cooling the superconducting cable to the reservoir tank. Vaporized refrigerant returned from the refrigerant returning line to the reservoir tank at the initial cooling operation for the superconducting cable is condensed again.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
