Abstract:
To provide a superconducting coil system for a nuclear fusion reactor capable of reducing or nullifying the pure copper wires in a CIC conductor without bringing about destruction of a vacuum vessel in which plasma is confined and shrinking the size of the conductor.
The superconducting coil system is composed of a superconducting coil and a normally conductive coil, wherein the normally conductive coil has a current time constant L2/R2 greater than the time constant L1/R1 for damping the superconducting coil current quickly when the conductor of the superconducting coil has made transition to the normally conductive condition.
