Title:
SUPERCONDUCTING ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3023777
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store electrical power as high efficiency and large capacity mechanical energy.
SOLUTION: A moving unit 1 with a mass (m) runs on a magnetic levitation guide 2 with a diameter (d), with a high speed for storing electrical energy as mechanical energy. The moving unit 1 is made to levitate above the magnetic levitation guide 2 in a noncontact manner with a low friction resistance by utilizing superconductivity. In the superconducting magnetic levitation, a position can be stably kept by utilizing a constrictive force produced by the pinning effect of a superconductor. When it is necessary, the mechanical energy of the moving unit 1 is converted into electrical energy by a linear generator, etc., provided on the magnetic levitation guide 2 or a linear magnetic levitation guide 3.
