PURPOSE: To enhance the stability of a superconducting magnet when it is quenched.
CONSTITUTION: A superconducting winding part 1 and a liquid helium storing part 2 are separated by a partition wall 5 and the like, they have independent exhaust pipes 8 and 13 respectively, and they are connected through remote control valves 11 and 14. A room-temperature high pressure helium gas storing vessel 16 is connected to the piping, which is communicated to the super- conducting wiring part 1 through the intermediary of a remote control valve 15 which is interlocked with the valve 14. When the superconducting winding is quenched, the whole of the winding is quickly changed to normal conduction, and an extremely safe super-conducting magnet device can be obtained without locally limiting the energy discharge.
