PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting magnet, capable of suppressing the reduction of trapped magnetic flux density, i.e. a magnetic flux creeping phenomenon, caused by the elapse of time, using the magnetic flux trapping characteristic of a second class superconducting material, and to provide a magnetizing method which can be realized by an inexpensive and simple magnetization device.
SOLUTION: In the superconducting magnet, the distribution of a magnetic flux density component vertical to the surface of a bulk body and/or a sheet body 1, consisting of the second class superconducting material directly over the surface is a maximum on the center part and approximately zero on the peripheral edge part and at least one minimum point exists between the center part and the peripheral edge part. In the method of magnetizing the superconducting magnet, a superconductor is arranged in the vicinity of a magnetic field generator and turned into a superconductive state, by cooling it to lower than the critical temperature, while impressing a magnetic field Hex1[A/m] in a normal conductive state; and after demagnetizing the impressed magnetic field to zero, a magnetic field is impressed, until the impressed magnetic field becomes -Hex2[A/m] which is a direction opposite to that of the trapped magnetic flux, the trapped magnetic flux density is set to Bin0[T]; and then the impressed magnetic flux is returned to zero, thus completing magnetization. Here, Hex 1>0 and Hex 2>0.
