Title:
SUPERCONDUCTING MOTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04207960
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent a superconducting magnet assembly from being exposed above the liquid level of liquid helium due to evaporation thereof by disposing the superconducting magnet assembly, a partition wall and the rotor shaft eccentrically to the axis of a liquid helium tank.

CONSTITUTION: A second tubular section constituting a part of casing is arranged concentrically to a thick radiation shielding board 38 arranged between the tubular section 1b and a liquid helium tank 26 and thereby they have a common axis 88. On the other hand, a ribbed inner cylindrical tube 30, a thin radiation shielding board 35 arranged on the inner periphery of the ribbed inner cylindrical tube 30, a partition wall 6 arranged on the inner periphery of the thin radiation shielding board 35, a rotor 11 arranged on the inner periphery of the partition wall 6, and a shaft 5 supporting the rotor 11 are arranged concentrically each other and thereby they have a common axis 89. The axis 89 is shifted downward by a predetermined extent from the axis 88. According to the constitution, a superconducting magnet assembly is not exposed above the liquid level of liquid helium even if the liquid helium is evaporated thermally and thereby superconducting state can be sustained continuously.
