Title:
SUPERCONDUCTING POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02131327
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To facilitate storage of energy by connecting DC current transmitted on superconductor from a power station with a substation, by means of a superconductor loop, through an inverter connected in parallel with a switch circuit forming a load in the power station.

CONSTITUTION: A power station A and a substation B are connected each other through a superconducting transmission loop 10. Output from an AC generator 2 is shunt 12 at the power station 2 in order to drive a converter 13 and a transformer 3. A parallel circuit of a switch 6 and an inverter 7 is connected in series with a transformer 8 in the substation B and power is fed to a load L. When the switches 5, 6 are closed, normal AC power transmission takes place. In the night time when the load is light, the switch 5 is opened while the switch 6 is closed ta circulate DC power produced by the converter 13 through the superconducting lines, thus storing energy. The stored energy is discharged by opening the switch 6. By such arrangement, power storage system can be constituted at low cost.
