Title:
SUPERCONDUCTING READ-ONLY MEMORY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0311776
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To realize a read-only memory which is low in power consumption and high in degree of integration by a method wherein a Josephson element with a conductive loop is provided, and write data are discriminated depending on that they are shortcircuited or not through a superconducting wiring located nearest to a surface. CONSTITUTION:An insulating layer 103 is provided between a lower electrode 101 and an upper electrode 102 both of superconducting thin film, and a Josephson junction 104 is formed. A Josephson element is composed of data ROM cells 121 and 122 as a unit. Write data from input signal lines 111-114 are discriminated through a control electrode as separated into '0' or '1', where '0' or '1' denotes that electrodes 101 and 102 are shortcircuited or not through a superconducting wiring 115 located nearest to the surface. '0' and '1' are written in the ROM cells 121 and 122 respectively. At this point, as the cells 121 and 122 are different from each other only by a control electrode pattern as a final wiring layer, it is enough that only the mask pattern of the wiring layer 115 is changed. By this setup, an amplification gate can be dispersed with and a read-only memory of this design can be made low in power consumption and high degree of integration.
