Title:
SUPERCONDUCTIVE AMORPHOUS ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS56112436
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a superconductive amorphous alloy which is excellent in strength and ductility and is not deteriorated on being irradiated with neutron beams by very rapidly cooling a molten alloy consisting of Nb, Si and other specified metallic element.

CONSTITUTION: An Nb alloy represented by formula Nba-Mb-Qc is prepared. In the formula, M is nothing or one or more kinds of metals such as Ti, Zr, V, Ta, Mo and W, Q is Si, one or two among B, C, P and Ge may be substituted for ≤8 atomic% of Si, a=15W85 atomic%, b=0W75%, c=10W25% and a+b+c=100%. This alloy 81 is melted in levitation melting furnace 4 in container 1 under an Ar atmosphere, and molten alloy 82 is very rapidly cooled at 105W106°C/sec cooling rate by being sprayed from nozzle 6 on metallic roll 7 rotating at 500W600rpm. Thus, superconductive amorphous alloy foil 83 is obdtd. It may be aged by heating to 500W900°C enhance the superconductivity.
