In a magnetic bearing provided with a rotary side permanent magnet rings 1, 4, 6, 8 as a rotary side bearing element, a high temperature superconductive bulk body 12 and a stationary side permanent magnet ring 13 are provided as a stationary side bearing element. For instance, the stationary side permanent magnet ring 13 is provided on the outer periphery of the high temperature superconductive bulk body 12, and at least a part of the rotary side permanent magnet ring 1 is opposed above the same pole. Thereby shaft deviation restraining force between the high temperature superconductive bulk body 12 and the rotary side permanent magnet ring suppresses shaft deviation force between the stationary side permanent magnet ring 13 and the rotary side permanent magnet ring, the shaft deviation is reduced and magnetic levitation is stabilized.
