PURPOSE: To obtain the preferable atmosphere without causing the temp. distribution in a carburization furnace by heating atmospheric gas at the prescribed temp. before it is introduced into the carburization furnace and also regulating this atmospheric gas to the composition satisfying the target carbon potential.
CONSTITUTION: Before carbonizable atmospheric gas G0 is introduced into a carburization furnace 1, this gas G0 is heated to the temp. in the carburization furnace 1 by a heater 3. The concns. of CO, CO2 and H2 in the heated atmospheric gas G1 are detected. The detected value is compared with the target value in the furnace 1 and the atmospheric gas is regulated to the necessary gas composition by adding insufficient gas among CO2, CO, H2 and CH4 or using dilution gas. The regulated atmospheric gas G2 is agitated by a mixer 4 to eliminate the temp. distribution and supplied to the furnace 1 as the gas free from staying.
