To provide an adhesive tape which has improved unwinding workability and ensures hand tearing property with fine dimensional accuracy.

This support 10 for an adhesive tape is obtained by approximately continuously alternately forming the first grooves 12 having a depth of 0.01 to 0.03 mm, respectively, over the whole width of a plastic tape-like article 11 preferably comprising a polyolefin resin such as polyethylene or polyproprylene and the second grooves 13 having a depth of 0.03 to 0.09 mm, respectively, over the width of the tape-like article at a distance of 0.10 to 0.50 mm on one side of the tape-like article in the longitudinal direction of the tape-like article. An adhesive layer 20 comprising an adhesive such as an acrylic resin-based adhesive or a rubber-based adhesive is preferably laminated to the groove 12, 13-non-formed side of the support 10 for the adhesive tape to obtain the adhesive tape 1.
