PURPOSE: To provide a support device, capable of aligning, with high accuracy, bearing bushes surrounding drum journals on both ends of a supported body having a relatively long drum, capable of adapting centerlines of the two journals to coincide with each other, and, if no coincidence is obtained, capable of keeping the drum parallel to the axis of rotation by appropriate bearing action.

CONSTITUTION: In a support device for a drum provided with two journals 57, 59 having centerlines 25, 27 substantially coinciding with the centerline 9 of the drum 1, the journals projecting from the drum on either side of the drum, having bushes 63, 65 as bearings attached to a frame 67, and being capable of rotating around a common axis of rotation 61 substantially coinciding with the centerline 9, each of the bushes 63, 65 is attached to the frame 67 by a ring-shaped membrane 69 positioned in a plane transverse to the axis of rotation 61.
