PURPOSE: To prolong the service life of a support for fusion cutting considerably by fitting a preceding end material made of copper or brass freely replaceably to the preceding end of the support for fusion cutting as a supporting base used in the stage of fusion cutting of steel plates and steel materials.

CONSTITUTION: A groove 2 is provided in the preceding end part of a support for fusion cutting 1 as a steel receiving base to be used as a supporting base in the stage of fusion cutting of thick steel plates or steel materials, and a preceding end material 3 made of copper or brass is fitted therein. Since the material 3 is made of materials having excellent heat conductivity, the infeasibility of the reuse that may result from the formation of notched ruggedness or the bending by melting of the material 3 of the support by the heat in the fusion cutting stage of steel materials etc. is obviated. Even if the material 3 is damaged, said material is replaced with a new preceding end material from the groove 2, whereby the service life of the support is prolonged considerably.
