PURPOSE: To improve measurement accuracy and operating characteristic by enabling the contact lens being examined to be supported sufficiently well through the simple operation of placing said lens on a rest member and installing tubular bodies.

CONSTITUTION: A reference lens L is placed on a lens supporting part 15b and the contact lens CL to be examined is placed thereon. The first and second tubular bodies 11, 12 are placed on these. The outside diameter of the second tubular body 12 is slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the end part of the tubular supporting part 15 on the tubular body 15, hence the first and second tubular bodies 11, 12 are installed stably on a substrate 15. At this time, the hermetically closed air chamber is formed by a valve body 14, contact lens CL as well as first and second tubular bodies 11, 12 and further transparent parallel flat plate 13. When the first tubular body 11 is pressed, the peripheral edge of the contact lens is pressure contacted and its surface is evenly pressed. In this way, the accuracy and operating characteristic of measurement may be achieved.
