To directly mount a supporting member on an outer periphery of an intermediate part of a cylinder in a supporting member mounting structure of a single cylinder hydraulic damper.
The cylinder 2 is divided into a gas chamber 6 and an oil chamber 7 by a free piston 5, and a piston connected with a piston rod 9 is fitted to the oil chamber 7. A bracket 21 as the supporting member is connected with an outer peripheral part of a non-sliding area A between the free piston 5 of the cylinder 2 and the piston 8 free from their sliding, by projection welding. As the piston 8 and the free piston 5 are not slid on the non-sliding area A, even when an inner peripheral face of the cylinder 2 is partially deformed by welding, their movement and the sealability are not impaired, and the bracket 21 can be mounted on the outer periphery of the intermediate part of the cylinder 2. As the bracket 21 can be directly welded to the cylinder 2, a structure can be simplified, the manufacturing cost can be reduced, and an unspring weight is not increased.
