Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a transgenic soybean system in which the expression of a gene encoding the seed storage protein has been modified so that the properties of a seed storage protein of a transgenic plant are changed.
SOLUTION: The construction of the transgenic soybean system comprises: (a) constructing a chimera gene containing (i) a nucleic acid fragment encoding a promotor region derived from a soybean seed storage protein gene, (ii) a nucleic acid fragment encoding the whole or a part of a soybean protein other than the soybean seed storage protein of (i) and placed in the direction of sense or antisense to the promotor of (i), and (iii) a transcription termination region, (b) preparing a transgenic soybean seed by introducing the chimera gene of the process (a) into a soybean seed, and (c) raising the transgenic soybean seed of the process (b) under conditions expressing the chimera gene of the process (a).
