To solve a problem that balance characteristics are degraded in a surface acoustic wave filter with a balanced terminal.
A surface acoustic wave filter element includes a piezoelectric substrate 101 and a plurality of IDT electrodes 102 to 104 formed on the piezoelectric substrate. The element employs a configuration in which, among a plurality of IDT electrodes, at least one IDT electrode 102 is connected with the balanced terminal and the other IDT electrodes 103 and 104 are connected with an unbalanced terminal, first and second wiring electrodes 107 and 109 connected with at least one IDT electrode 102 are arranged on a different plane with respect to a wiring electrode 116 on a third circuit substrate connected with another IDT electrode, and the wiring electrode 116 on the third circuit provided on a different plane with respect to the IDT electrode is practically and directly connected with electrode digits of the IDS electrodes 103 and 104 through a bump or a via hole.
