Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated cutting tool which has a longer service life.SOLUTION: A surface coated cutting tool has a base material and a coated film formed on the base material, where the base material is cemented carbide or cermet, the surface of the base material includes a rake face, a flank face and a tip face connecting the rake face and the flank face, and in the base material, oxygen concentration at a depth position of 0.4 μm from the tip face is 1 atom% or less. The coated film contains a hard layer, and the uppermost layer out of the hard layer has a compression stress with an absolute value of 1.5 GPa or more.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
