Title:
SURFACE-COATED CUTTING TOOL WITH HARD COATING LAYER MAINTAINING EXCELLENT ABRASION RESISTANCE AND CHIPPING RESISTANCE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2013184271
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a surface-coated cutting tool maintaining excellent abrasion resistance and chipping resistance for a long period of time even when the tool is used for high speed intermittent cutting work of a heat-resistant alloy.

A hard coated layer has a laminate structure having total average thickness of 1.0-3.0 μm in which a chromium boride layer of 0.5-1.0 μm average layer thickness is coated above a zirconium boride layer having average layer thickness of 0.5-2.0 μm formed directly on the tool base body or through a lower layer. Furthermore, each of the boride layers has a hexagonal crystal structure, and when orientation difference of neighboring crystal grains in a boundary face between the chromium boride layer and zirconium boride layer is measured, an interfacial length in which the difference of the angles between (0001) orientation of the zirconium boride layer and (0001) orientation of the chromium boride layer existing in the range of 0-5 degrees is 50 line segment percentage or more of the whole observation interfacial length so that the problem can be solved.
