Title:
SURFACE DAMAGE RESISTANT, NON-GLARE, TRANSPARENT ACRYLIC SHEET HAVING DEFINITE OPTICAL CHARACTERISTICS IN DIFFERENT SHEET THICKNESS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2004034693
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a surface damage resistant, transparent acrylic sheet which serves as a non-glare frame cover and the like.

The surface damage resistant transparent co-extrusion sheet comprises; (a) a cap layer composed of an acrylic matrix containing 0.1 to 18 % of particles (of which the particle and matrix are not different over 0.020 in refractive index) wherein the particle has average particle size of about 1 to 60 μm (of which 90 % of the particle is below 70 μm) and, (b) a clear substrate layer comprising an acrylic composition (the substrate is not different over 0.020 from the matrix in refractive index). The sheet has (i) a luminous transmittance of 90 % or above, (ii) a haze value of below 16 % and at least one characteristic selected from (iii) and (iv) hereinafter described, namely; (iii) a gloss difference of not over 15 when measured on the sheets of diverging thickness of 0.04 to 0.25 in., and (iv) a haze value change of below 25 % when measured after 500 revolutions using 500 g loading and CS10F wheel.
