Abstract:

To provide a surface emitting device using carbon nanotube as an emitter.

In the surface emitting device 11, a cathode electrode is formed of a conductive member 102 covering part of the surface of a substrate 101, the carbon nanotube 104 is formed on the conductive member 102, an anode electrode made of a conductive planar body 103 is arranged nearly in parallel with the substrate 101 in opposition to the cathode electrode and the carbon nanotube 104, and a light emitter made of phosphors 105 has electron released from the carbon nanotube 104 to the anode electrode collide with the same and emit light as a voltage is applied between the cathode electrode and the anode electrode.
