Title:
SURFACE LAYER MELTING TREATMENT METHOD, SURFACE LAYER-MODIFIED STEEL SLAB AND WORKED PRODUCT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2010168656
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a composite steel slab having a surface modified layer thicker than the conventional one and also having a reduced variation in the depth direction by plasma heating in a technique where the surface layer part of a steel slab is inexpensively subjected to melting treatment without reducing productivity so as to achieve high purification, and a technique where metal elements, alloys or different kinds of steels are added to the surface layer melting treated part so as to achieve high functionality.

The surface layer of a steel slab which is conveyed is preheated by at least any method selected from burner heating, induction heating and plasma heating, and thereafter, the surface layer part to ≥10 mm from the surface of the steel slab is subjected to melting treatment at a surface heat input density of ≥20 W/mm2 by plasma heating.
