To provide a backlight unit excellent in uniformity feeling at appearance by enhancing a brightness in the central part, and capable of obtaining high brightness feeling without requiring a high electric power consumption, and a brightness equalizing sheet used therefor.
This brightness equalizing sheet has a translucent base material, and a white ink part provided pattern-likely on the translucent base material. A transmittance thereof has the minimum value in a substantially just upper position of each line light source, and the maximum value in a substantially intermediate upper position between the adjacent respective line light sources, and the minimum value of the transmittance has the maximum value in a substantial central part, when approximated to a quadratic function by a method of least squares.
