Abstract:

To provide a light guide body for a surface light source device capable of obtaining broad light emission and a high-quality surface light source device easily with this, and capable of being manufactured easily.

A plate-shaped raw material for a light guide body made of a methacrylic system resin having more than 100,000 of a weight-average molecular weight is prepared and a foamed surface layer 244 of a thickness 1-20 μm with a cross-section of a recessed shape is formed by a laser-irradiation process in which infrared laser such as carbon dioxide laser is used, in at least a part of a region of at least one of main surfaces of this light guide body raw material.
