Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method enabling a surface-treated bio-fiber to be obtained easily, the fiber having excellent dispersibility in a solvent.SOLUTION: The production method comprises: a first polymerization step where, in a reaction solution containing a bio-fiber, a first monomer, and a solvent, the first monomer is polymerized by living radical polymerization and an obtained first polymer is attached to a surface of the bio-fiber to obtain a hydrophilic block (A); and a second polymerization step where a second monomer is added to the reaction solution, the second monomer is polymerized by living radical polymerization and an obtained polymer is polymerized onto an elongation terminal of the first polymer to form a hydrophobic block (B) on an outside of the hydrophilic block (A). A surface free energy of the bio-fiber E, that of the first polymer E, that of the second polymer E, and that of the solvent Esatisfy the following condition: E>E>E>E.
