To provide a filler, especially aluminum hydroxide, whose surface is modified, and to provide a method for easily and profitably producing the filler in high efficiency.
This filler whose surface is modified is obtained by mixing a filler with water, adding a water-based composition containing an organosiloxane to the mixture with well stirring, and subsequently drying the mixture. Therein, the organosiloxane is soluble in water, and has at least one amino functional group and, if necessary, at least another functional group selected from the series of alkyl, halogenoalkyl, alkenyl, glycidoetheralkyl, acryloxyalkyl and methacryloxyalkyl groups in addition to OH groups, wherein one organo functional group is bound to each silicon atom of the organosiloxane.
