Abstract:
To provide a surface-modified perfluorinated polymer electrolyte membrane with improved fuel-blocking properties without compromising proton conductivity or mechanical strength of base material.SOLUTION: The polymer electrolyte membrane is characterized by selective chemical bonding of a polymerized product of fluorostyrene to a tertiary carbon position on a surface of base material, a perfluorinated polymer electrolyte membrane with an ionic group. The polymerized product of fluorostyrene is produced by introducing fluorostyrene by chemical initiator graft polymerization. The polymer electrolyte membrane is used as a membrane electrode junction for a polymer electrolyte membrane of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell.SELECTED DRAWING: None
