To provide a surface mounting antenna used for a mobile telephone or the like that can freely set a place of a feeding electrode without deteriorat ing electric characteristics and enhance the surface mounting performance.
A first ground electrode 3 is provided on one major side 2a of a flat base 2 and a radiation electrode 6 is placed on the other major side 2b of the base 2 so that its one end forms an open end 6a. A short-circuit plate 7 connecting the other end of the radiation electrode 6 to the first ground electrode 3 is placed to an end face 2c of the base 2, and a feeding electrode 9 is placed to an end face 2d of the base 2. Further, an impedance matching circuit 10 interconnecting the radiation electrode 6 and the feeding electrode 9 is placed to the end face 2d of the base 2. Thus, even while the feeding electrode 9 is connected to an optional position of the radiation electrode 6 (including the short-circuit plate 7), the input impedance is matched and the electric characteristics of the surface mounting antenna 1 can be facilitated.
