Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent a molding from being whitened by shock, etc. and to improve failure in appearance after molding, by applying an extremely thin coating onto fine grains provided on the surface of a rigid vinyl chloride resin molding.

CONSTITUTION: An extremely thin coating is applied onto fine grains provided on the surface of a rigid vinyl chloride resin molding. The vinyl chloride resin moldings to be used can be obtd. from vinyl chloride resin alone or mixtures obtd. by adding not more than 150pts.wt. other resins such as ABS resin to 100pts.wt. vinyl chloride resin. The size of each grain of grain pattern is 40S or below and the grain has a matte effect. The paints to be used are those which have the same color as that of the grain pattern or are clear. Examples of the paints are those composed of epoxy resin, melamine resin, acrylic resin, etc. The thickness of the coating is pref. 4μ or below.
