To suppress the oxidation of alloy and intermetallic compound series magnetic materials including rare earth series used for the magnetic circuits of various motors, actuators or the like to be caused by an oxygen source present in preserving and using atmospheres made into the main cause of permanent deterioration in magnetic properties and to secure the stability of the magnetic materials thereby.
In the method for producing alloy and intermetallic compound series magnetic materials having high magnetic properties and corrosion resistance, magnetic material powder and metal powder to form into a rust preventive film source are sealed into a sealed vessel in a mixed state, this mixture is uniformly heated at a temperature sufficient for vaporizing the metal powder under the reduced pressure to feed atomic or clustery metallic vapor to the objective surface of the magnetic material powder, and, by utilizing the reaction affinity between the magnetic material and the same metal, a rust preventive thin film in which the same metal has uniformly been precipitated is deposited on the surface of the magnetic material.
