To provide a laborsaving device which efficiently removes the surface soil covering a farm land.
A surface soil excavation device 101 which is attached to a traveling machine such as a tractor 301 for use. The surface soil excavation device 101 comprises: an excavation part 102 which extends in a direction in approximately parallel with the ground surface GL2 and in crossing with the traveling direction of the tractor 301; and an excavation claw 105 which is rotation-driven so as to excavate the surface soil of the ground surface GL2. The surface soil excavation device 101 includes a transportation part 103 which is arranged on the rear side of the rotation axis 104 of the excavation part 102 in the traveling direction and extends in parallel with the ground surface GL2 so as to transport and discharge the surface soil excavated by the excavation part 102 to the side of the excavation part 102. The excavation part 102 and the transportation part 103 are rotation-driven with power from the tractor 301, allowing the surface soil of the ground surface GL2 to be excavated and transported.
