Title:
SURFACE STABILIZER OF GREEN SAND MOLD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3779369
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the surface stability, to reduce the defective sand inclusion, and to reduce the adverse effect of the residue after use on the green sand by providing the surface stabilizer to be used for a green sand mold which is composed primarily of swelling clay mineral sol.
SOLUTION: The surface stabilizer to be used for a green sand mold is composed primarily of the clay mineral sol obtained from the highly swelling clay. The content of the swelling clay mineral in the swelling clay mineral sol is preferably about 0.5-6wt.%. The swelling clay mineral is bentonite or montmorillonite which is water-elutriated from bentonite. Natural rock-forming mineral, the crystalline graphite, coal powder, etc., are blended by 0.3-10% in the surface stabilizer as necessary. Even when the surface stabilizer is left in the green sand after use, the amount of the residue having adverse effect on the sand is reduced.
