Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface strengthened metal member such that an arbitrary place of a surface layer part is greatly strengthened and a defect such as a hole and a crack is suppressed, and a manufacturing apparatus therefor.SOLUTION: An arbitrary place of parent metal 10 as a material to be strengthened is irradiated with laser light 5 being scanned so as to form a molting part 11 where a surface layer part of the parent metal 10 is molten, and further fine particles 7 are projected at a high speed from the melting part 11 of the parent metal 10 to a melting re-solidification part 12 where the melting part 11 is re-solidified so as to perform dispersion strengthening and processing hardening simultaneously. Consequently, fine particles 7 having higher strength than the parent metal 10 are dispersed in the melting re-solidification part 12. Further, strain can be introduced into a crystal structure by projecting the fine particles 7 at the high speed on the melting re-solidification part 12, and a defect such as a hole and a crack present at the melting re-solidification part 12 can be filled.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
