Abstract:
To provide a surface treating method of a metal with which the wear resistance can be improved by forming a high quality and toughness film on metal surfaces contacted with each other while receiving the surface pressures.
On the metal surfaces contacted under state of mutually receiving the surface pressures in hypoid gears, a hardened layer having 0.1-200 μm thickness and ≥Hv600 hardness, is formed, respectively. In this hardened layer, a shot-peening treatment is performed by using a projection material having average grain diameter in the range of 3-150 μm and hardness of ≤0.8 times of the hardened layer.
