To provide a surface treatment agent that can form a surface layer having excellent lubricity and rub resistance, a coating liquid, an article and a method for producing an article.SOLUTION: A surface treatment agent comprises a fluorinated ether compound that comprises a fluoro polyether chain comprising a unit represented by (OCF2) and a unit represented by (OCF2CF2) and a reactive silyl group. In a chart obtained by 19F-NMR measurement of the fluorinated ether compound, Y>-0.0062X2+0.1343X+0.1123 holds, X denotes {(a1+a2+a3)/2}/{(b1+b2)/4}, Y denotes (a3)/(a1+a2+a3), and a1-a3 and b1-b2 are peak integrals observed in a predetermined chemical shift.SELECTED DRAWING: None
