Abstract:
PURPOSE: To stably form a Cr plating layer free from the defect of blister or the like, at the time of applying Cr plating to the surface of a cast Al wheel by previously subjecting the face to be plated to chromating treatment.
CONSTITUTION: Since many pinholes are present on the surface of an Al wheel 1 as casting stock, the design face la visible ordinary on the outer side part of the wheel 1 is subjected to chromating treatment to impregnate Cr ions 3 into the pinholes, and after that, the design face 1a is mechanically smoothened by polishing or machining. After that, the surface is plated with Cr to form the Cr plating layer excellent in luster at a high yield.
