To provide a surface treatment apparatus to improve the efficiency of the surface treatment by avoiding adversely affecting the stacking of the post-process by performing simultaneous surface treatment for two split pieces.
The surface treatment apparatus includes: a pair of split pieces-gripping means which grip the corresponding broken face of each split piece of the block stopped from conveyance and the end part of the opposite side; a pair of split pieces-turning means which turn each split piece between the mounting position on the conveyance face and the position for the gripped, corresponding broken face of each split piece to become almost horizontal in the side of the conveyance face, and a pair of split faces-grinding means which simultaneously grind each edge of the corresponding broken face having been positioned nearly horizontally of each split piece. The pair of the split pieces-gripping means, the pair of split pieces-turning means and the pair of the split faces-grinding means are disposed symmetrically in relation to the block conveying direction.
