Abstract:

To provide a surface treatment method for a magnesium alloy material with reduced steps where, when surface treatment is performed to a magnesium alloy material, harmful matters such as hydrogen fluoride are not generated.

The surface treatment method for a magnesium alloy material comprises a step of subjecting a magnesium alloy material to barrel polishing together with abrasives and a medium material as a fluorine compound. As the medium material, one selected from fluorine mica, sodium fluoride, potassium fluoride, lithium fluoride, aluminum fluoride and ammonium fluoride is used. Further, the amount of the fluorine compound to be mixed is adopted in the range of 0.1 to 5 wt.%.
