Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment method of a magnesium substrate not only for improving corrosion-resistance, abrasive resistance and shock resistance of parts consisting of the magnesium substrate, but that also has small environmental load, that has high adhesion of a sprayed coating to the magnesium substrate, that may reduce labor and cost, and that may form thick sprayed coating.SOLUTION: A magnesium substrate 1 is surface-treated by carrying out a ceramics coating forming step for forming a ceramics coating 2 on a surface of the magnesium substrate 1 by a plasma electrolytic oxidization process, and a spray coating step for forming a sprayed coating 3 by forming spray material on the surface of the ceramics coating 2 formed in the ceramics coating forming step. Thickness of the ceramics coating 2 is typically 5 to 50 μm. The sprayed coating 3 may be formed with a thickness of broad range of 50 μm to 5 mm.
